Fitting Instructions

5. 4 pieces of 6 x 3/4″ screw for hold down bracket

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Measure where you require the blind to be hung. The blind may be fitted inside (A) or outside (B) the recess.
2. Position the spider mounting brackets for fixing either face or top ensuring that the spider mounting brackets are fixed approximately 5cm from the end of the blind. The centre spider mounting bracket (required for blinds exceeding 120cm width) may be positioned as required.
   NB. Make sure not to position the spider mounting brackets where they would interfere with the working mechanisms of the blinds.
   
   
3. Now present the blind to the spider mounting bracket ensuring that the lugs position snugly under the front rim of the headrail. Then push the locking arm until it is pressed against the headrail.
4. Insert bottom rail into the pin of the hold down bracket. (Optional)

TO ADJUST THE DROP OF BLIND

After mounting the blind, check the height of the blind to see if this should be adjusted. If this is the case, then act as follows:
Carefully observe how the bottom rail is clasped into position by the plastic button. Remove the button from the bottom rail and undo the knot in the lift cord. Remove the appropriate number of slats, reassemble the bottom rail and insert the button into position again.

TO OPERATE THE BLIND

Lowering:
Hold cord at eye level and move to the left, pulling down gently until cord lock releases. Allow cord to slip through fingers until blind reaches desired level. Move the lift cord to the right and release, blind will lock automatically.
Raising:
Pull cord downward until blind reaches desired height, release cord, the blind will lock automatically.
Tilting:
Rotate ‘wand’ of blind to attain desired slat position. Do NOT over-rotate wand.
Important:
Always tilt blind horizontally before raising or lowering the blind, this increases the life of the blind.

INSTALLING HOLD DOWN BRACKETS (OPTIONAL):

Hold down brackets: Using two small screws, screw hold down bracket to window facing or wall. Snap bracket pin ends into the hole at bottom rail end caps. NB: The use of hold down brackets is recommended but is not a requirement for the normal functioning of the blind.

SAFETY CLEAT FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

STEP ONE

• Place safety cleat in the desired location on the wall and mark the position of the two holes using a pencil.
• We recommend positioning the cleat to either side of the blind and out of the reach of children.

STEP TWO

• Remove the safety cleat and drill the position marked.
• Once the holes are drilled, place a rawlplug into the holes.
• Use the screws provided to attach the safety cleat to the wall.

STEP THREE

• We recommend that the cord is wrapped around the safety cleat when the blind is not in use, as shown in the pictures above.

WARNING

 

Young children can strangle in the loop of pull cords, chains and tapes that operate window coverings. They can also wrap the cords around their necks. To avoid the risk of strangulation and entanglement, keep cords out of the reach of young children. Move beds, cots and furniture away from window covering cords.

Measuring Instructions

Before you start to measure you must first decide whether you would like your aluminium venetian blind to hang inside or outside the window recess.

Aluminium Blind Inside window recess

How to Measure for aluminium blinds inside the window recess:

1. First measure the width in 3 different positions inside the window recess from wall to wall. You should take measurements from the top, the middle and the bottom. You should then use the smallest measurement as the width of your blind.
2. Next measure the Drop (height) in 3 different positions inside the recess from the top of the recess to the window sill. The most important measurement to write down is the Largest one.
3. Finally select the inside recess fitting option and select the unit you used to measure your window with (mm, cm or inches). You can now enter these values into the window measurements section to order your blinds from The Online Blind Company.

NOTE: We will make appropriate deductions so your blind fits perfectly.

Aluminium Blind Outside Window Recess

How to Measure for aluminium venetian blinds outside the window recess:

1. First measure the width of your window then add at least 7.5cm to allow the blind to overlap the window width.
2. Second measure the drop (height) of your window and again add at least 7.5cm this time to allow for overlap of the window height.
3. Finally select the outside recess fitting option and select the unit you used to measure your window with (mm, cm or inches). You can now enter these values into the window measurements section to order your blinds from The Online Blind Company.

Child Safety Information

All of our online made to measure blinds at The Online Blind Company are supplied with safety in mind. We strive to offer only the safest possible products and where necessary we provide relevant safety devices with all of the made to measure blinds we deliver.

To comply with the British safety standard EN13120 you must install these devices together with your blind, we provide in depth details on how to do this with every blind ordered online from The Online Blind Company. All of the safety devices we provide are compliant with UK law and have been thoroughly tested.

If your made to measure blind from The Online Blind Company arrives without any accompanying safety device then it is probably because the blind is already safe by its design i.e. their are no hanging loops or cords.

Whilst The Online Blind Company provide the relevant safety devices, it is important to exercise due caution and ensure that beds, cots and other items of furniture are moved away from the blinds operating cords so as to ensure that they are out of reach of small children.
